Oakland Police Make Arrests

On April 12, at 2:15 AM, officers responded to the 1600 block of 84th Avenue on a report of an armed robbery and assault. When officers arrived on scene, the victim informed them that he had been robbed at gunpoint and assaulted by three suspects who took his property. The victim and a witness were able to provide descriptions of all three suspects.
The preliminary investigation led officers to the 6800 block of Arthur Street where officers located and arrested two of the suspects in connection with the robbery. Police are searching for the third suspect.
A key part of our crime reduction strategy is to share information with the community. As a result, the community’s informed participation has assisted us in making arrests.

On April 13, 2014, at 2:56 PM, officers conducted a vehicle traffic enforcement stop in the 5800 block of Marshall Street. The driver was arrested for an outstanding warrant. Officers additionally recovered an illegally possessed loaded firearm from inside the vehicle.

On April 13, 2014 at 6:12 PM, the Oakland Police Departments Crime Reduction Team 5 and patrol officers served a narcotics search warrant at a residence in the 8700 block of Plymouth Street. Information about the illegal activity was obtained through intelligence-based policing and the assistance of the community. The warrant was for illegal narcotics. One male adult was arrested in connection with suspected cocaine possession. Narcotics manufacturing equipment was also recovered.

The Oakland Police Department continues to identify criminals neighborhood by neighborhood. Building community trust is absolutely essential to our crime-fighting efforts. Intelligence-based policing uses crime data to identify crime trends and patterns, hot-spot policing, and community input.
