On Saturday, April 12, 2104 at approximately 8:30 PM, PSPD received several reports of hazardous roadway conditions on Indian Canyon Drive and Gene Autry Trail in the Whitewater Wash area, south of I-10. PSPD responded and determined that the blowing sand from the wind conditions on both roadways had reduced the visibility to zero at times, causing a significant hazard to motorists. Indian Canyon Drive is closed to southbound traffic at Garnet Avenue and closed to northbound traffic at Tramview Road. Gene Autry Trail is closed to southbound traffic at I-10 and closed to northbound traffic at Via Escuela. PSPD will monitor the conditions of these roadways until it is determined that they can reopen. Motorists are urged to obey all road closures and use Vista Chino or SR-111 as alternate routes.
