Major High Springs Road to be closed beginning Monday
Main Street will completely close and all traffic detoured at the railroad crossing in downtown High Springs beginning Monday at 9 a.m. and reopening no later than 6 p.m. Friday, April 18. The closure is necessary to remove the railroad tracks.
The detour is County Road 232 (78th Avenue), County Road 235, County Road 235A, U.S. 441 and back to U.S. 27/41.
Law enforcement officers will assist with the road closure and detour. The roadway will be reopened early if the work is completed ahead of schedule or could possibly be closed longer if it rains.
Along with the removal of the railroad tracks, the roadway will be repaved, sidewalk will be repaired and railroad signals will be removed. Florida Northern Railroad is contracting to do the work and Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT) is overseeing the construction and roadway resurfacing.
To learn if the roadway is reopened earlier than Friday, call 1-888-558-1518.
