Petaluma Police is investigating a fraudulent phone scam from 253.719.5126 where the caller is stating the person receiving the phone call is the subject of a law suit in Washington and they are requested to call back and speak to an investigating detective with the federal government. The preliminary investigation reveals this is a scam and a fraudulent attempt to get people to pay some amount of money. Petaluma Police have been in contact with federal authorities. They are aware of this scam and it has been previously reported to the news media.
