Newhall, Zone 6, Public Safety and Crime Prevention Info for the week of 3/31/14 through 04/06/14.

A look back at the crimes reported in the Newhall area last week.

Two businesses had window smash break-ins.  One in the 23500 block of Lyons Avenue early Wednesday morning, and another in the 24400 block of Walnut Avenue sometime between Friday the 4th, and Saturday the 5th.  The target in both break-ins was the cash registers.

A tip for businesses, don’t leave cash in your registers overnight.  If your cash register is visible from outside your business, leave the drawer open with the tray on top, so it is visibly empty.  A closed register might just be the temptation a “would be thief” is looking for.

A vehicle burglary occurred in the 23600 block of Meadowridge Drive sometime between Sunday the 30th, and Tuesday the 1st.

Whenever you park your vehicle and leave it unattended, even for a short time, always be sure to close the windows, lock the doors, and don’t leave valuables (or anything that may seem valuable) in plain view.

Three trucks were reported stolen last week.  A white 2008 Chevy from the 24800 block of Meadview Avenue, a red 1994 Ford from the 24900 block of Walnut Street, and a white 2004 Ford F450 commercial truck from the 23600 block of Meadowridge Drive.

An apartment was broke in to in the 24500 block of Golden Oak Lane sometime overnight between Sunday the 30th, and Monday the 31st.  The location had sat vacant for several years and had possibly been previously frequented by juveniles in the area.

Remember to lock your doors and windows, don’t leave valuables in plain view, be aware of your surroundings, and report suspicious behavior.
