April 13-19 delcared National Public Safety Telecommunications week.

On April 1, 2013 Gibson County Commissioners signed a proclamation declaring April 13-19 as National Public Safety Telecommunications Week. Telecommunications Officers are the first and most critical contact our citizens have with emergency services. They are the unsung heroes who answer the 911 calls when situations seem at their gravest. This week has been designated as a way to show appreciation for the job that they do. In addition to serving the public they also provide accurate information to police, fire, medic crews that keep the officers safe responding, and alert them to any information that they may need before arriving on scene.

On April 10th the Gibson County Sheriff’s Office provided a meal at Sandy’s Pizza in Fort Branch as a means to show our appreciation. In the photo included (Left to Right): Sheriff George Ballard and Communications Officers James Griswold, Kayla Wells, Becky Beadles, Leah Wickert, Roy Bridges, and Lisa Viton gather together for a group photo down at Sandy’s Pizza. Communications Officers Dave Brogan and Mike McGregor were not present.
