Valencia, Zone 5, Public Safety and Crime Prevention Information. Snapshot for 03/31/2014 through 04/06/2014.

The following criminal incidents reported during the past week included: vehicle burglaries, theft from unlocked vehicles, grand theft and numerous shoplifting from various businesses.

There were two vehicle burglaries which occurred in the 26900 block of Theater Drive and the 24800 block of Riverchase Drive between the hours of 8:00 am and 1:00 pm. Victims reported the rear passenger windows had been shattered with an unknown object. The victim’s vehicles were parked in a parking structure and on a street in front of a residence. Items stolen were a purse containing a wallet, credit cards, money, miscellaneous tools and welding hood. Items were left in the backseat area visible from outside the vehicles. Items stolen were a wallet containing the victim’s driver’s license, credit cards and money. No suspects or witnesses were located regarding this incident.

Two thefts from unlocked vehicles occurred in the 23800 block of Laurelwood Land and 23800 Bayview Court between the hours of 9:00 pm and 8:00 am. Vehicles were either parked in the driveway or on the street in front of their residence. Both victims left the vehicles unlocked and items were left in the center console area or backseat of the vehicles. Items stolen were a wallet, printer, and IPad.

A grand theft occurred at the 28500 block of Westinghouse Place between the hours of 5:30 pm and 9:30 am. The victim parked his vehicle in the parking lot overnight. When he awoke, the tires and rims had been stolen of his 2013 BMW. The investigation is currently ongoing.

Please avoid becoming a victim! Do not leave items visible in your vehicle. Take all personal belongings with you when you exit your vehicle or secure items in locked trunks. Do not leave items underneath vehicle seats or cover them with clothing apparel or blankets. Thieves know this technique. Remember to roll up all windows and lock doors before walking away from your vehicle.

If you see any suspicious activity, please call the Sheriff’s Station immediately at 661-255-1121. There were multiple arrests made this past week by proactive Santa Clarita Deputies assigned to the Valencia area. Arrests included possession of narcotics, drunk in public, assault on a person and numerous shoplifting from local businesses.
