Motorcycle Accident Sends One to Hospital with Head Injury

Maricopa, AZ. (April 9, 2014) At approximately 8:00 AM, an accident occurred involving a motorcycle and a 4-door sedan on John Wayne Parkway and Lakeview Dr. A man in his thirties on the motorcycle was hit from behind while he was stopped in traffic. He was not wearing a helmet was thrown from his bike. Maricopa Fire Department arrived on scene to find the rider walking around and bleeding from his head. Crews quickly determined that the patient was suffering from a head injury and was rapidly transported to the newly upgraded Chandler Regional Trauma Center. Patient was in stable condition upon transfer to the hospital.

• A motorcyclist not wearing a helmet is 40% more likely to die of a head injury than one wearing a helmet.
