Narrative:
While on patrol in the Santa Susana area of Simi Valley, Deputies John Eisenhard and Scott Horswill located fall victim Bill Coleman who had fallen almost 60 feet during a rock climbing accident. The deputies located Coleman’s unoccupied vehicle parked in Santa Susana Park. Suspicious of the unattended car, the deputies began to search the area and located the victim in serious condition after a fall at the bottom of a 60 foot rock face. Coleman stated he had been at the location for a “night time rock climb” and fell.
The deputies provided initial medical treatment to stabilize Coleman prior to Emergency Medical Services (EMS) personnel’s’ arrival. He was later transported to Los Robles Hospital in Thousand Oaks. EMS personnel on scene advised the deputies that Coleman could have succumbed to his multiple injuries without their intervention, medical stabilization and treatment.
