UPDATE: ROBBERY AND HOME INVASION SUSPECT IN CUSTODY

A man wanted in connection with a crime spree in East County is now in custody. Kevin Knight (1/12/71) was arrested around 8:30 a.m. today (April 9) near a Wendy's at the intersection of Campo Road and Spring Street in Spring Valley.

A deputy from the Rancho San Diego Sheriff's Station responded to a call of a car burglary. When the deputy arrived, Knight ran away. The deputy caught up to Knight, but Knight resisted arrest. The deputy used a taser to gain compliance. Knight will get a checkup from a hospital then be booked into Central Jail on robbery, home invasion robbery and car theft charges.

Take a good look at these surveillance photos. This man is wanted in connection with a crime spree in the East County including armed robberies, home invasion robberies and four car thefts. We want your help in finding him before he hurts someone.

It all started just after noon today when the man robbed a smoke shop and travel agency in the 9500 block of Jamacha Boulevard in Spring Valley. The man took a purse and car keys.

The man then drove to the 2700 block of Lake Pointe Drive where he left the stolen car. He entered a home with an open door and stole keys to a second car. He drove near a Staples store in Rancho San Diego and left the car. The suspect went into a Hallmark store, took another car keys and drove away to the 1600 block of Sundale Road. He took a fourth set of car keys during a home invasion. The suspect drove two miles away from the house and left the car. All the stolen cars have been recovered.

Witnesses describe the suspect as a white man in his 30s, about 5"10 to 6'0" tall. He has tattoos all over his chest, back and arms.

The suspect used a gun in the crime spree. If you see him, do not approach him. He should be considered ARMED and DANGEROUS. Call 911.
