Attn. All Law Enforcement in the USA: Th, Apr.10, 2014 #LEEDIR Online Exercise: New Free Tool for Eyewitnesses to Share Video

Thurs, Apr. 10, 2014, 9am-noon PDT: Online Exercise of a New Free Tool for Eyewitnesses to Share Video with USA Law Enforcement

Many recent tragedies have shown that due to mobile technology, there is often eyewitness video in the immediate aftermath of a terror attack or major disaster. Minutes count, yet how can witnesses quickly and easily send their videos and high resolution photos to law enforcement and first responders? Critically important video can range from a possible suspect of a terror attack, to footage that could rapidly show many downed buildings with people trapped inside after a major disaster.

The problem is, your agency email and website has no way to handle the intake of video and high-resolution photos, nor is there an information triage system.

The solution for this need is the new http://www.leedir.us video upload system, free to the approximately 19,000 USA law enforcement agencies under certain emergency circumstances.
“LEEDIR enables eyewitnesses to acts of terrorism and large scale disasters to upload video to all law enforcement agencies in the U.S.,” said Los Angeles County Sheriff John L. Scott.

Here’s what to do:

Join LEEDIR and the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department (LASD) for an online video upload and law enforcement training exercise. You will learn how your law enforcement agency can start using the system, and get feedback via Twitter and Facebook during the exercise:

Who: All USA Law Enforcement Agencies (non-USA law enforcement are also welcome to participate in the exercise)

When: Thursday, April 10, 2014, 9am-noon PDT

What: Upload any video(s) and high resolution photos of your choice to: http://www.leedir.us during the hours of the exercise. For example, agency recruitment videos, crime prevention videos, etc. (Note: Be sure to follow your agency’s policy, procedures and privacy guidelines if you are participating). FREE Android and iPhone apps are available at http://www.leedir.us

Why: USA Law enforcement will learn how to use LEEDIR & activate the ability for future use (in the event of a terror attack or major disaster).

Where: Upload your video and photos using your computer or mobile device from anywhere in the world (just like a witness would)

How: For discussion and feedback, follow the #LEEDIR hashtag on Twitter and Facebook during and after the exercise, and via the #LASD
