Police Investigate Child's Near Drowning



Jackson police are investigating a near drowning of a 7-year-old boy.

Around 8:15 p.m. Monday, Jackson police and EMS responded to the 400 building at Chapel Ridge Apartments after an older brother found a 7-year-old boy unresponsive in the bathtub. When police arrived, the mother was performing CPR on the boy.

The boy was transported to Jackson-Madison County General Hospital and then airlifted to LeBonheur Children's Hospital in Memphis. The boy remains at LeBohneur in extremely critical condition.

The investigation into the circumstances surrounding this incident is ongoing by police.

The Tennessee Department of Children's Services was notified and is also investigating.
