On Saturday, April 5, 2014 at 10:12pm, CPD officers were dispatched to a residence in the 2600 block of Olympic Avenue regarding a discharge of a firearm into the air. The caller identified the residence as belonging to Hector Rios. On arrival, officers contacted Hector Rios and two other subjects in the front yard of the residence. Rios and the other subjects were detained. During a search of these subjects, Rios was found to be in possession of a 9mm handgun. Officers also discovered that Rios was in possession of two 9mm rounds of ammunition and the firearm magazine. Hector Rios was placed under arrest at that time. During a search of the area in front of the residence Officers located one spent 9mm shell casing and one live round of 9mm ammunition. Consent to search the open garage area was given to the officers and two additional spent 9mm shell casings and one additional live round of 9mm ammunition was located. Also located during the search was approximately 658 grams of Marijuana. Rios was charged with reckless discharge of a firearm, possession of a concealed weapon and possession of Marijuana. Rios was later transported and booked into the Kings County Jail for the listed offenses and his bail was set at $50,000.00.
