Two charged with breaking into woman's house and stealing $800 worth of property
Detective Jason Grindstaff of the McDowell County Sheriff’s Office charged 37-year-old Robert Dean Ballard, of Pinnacle Heights Drive in Nebo, with one felony count each of breaking and entering and larceny.
He also charged 30-year-old James Robert Hughes, 30, of U.S. 70 West in Morganton, with felony breaking and entering.
On Feb. 28, Paula Rice McGinnis, of Pinnacle Heights Drive in Nebo, reported that someone broke into her residence and stole a chainsaw, a knife and two guns with a total value of $800.
Grindstaff said further investigation into the incident led to the two suspects. Ballard and the victim are neighbors.
A portion of the property was recovered.
