Noble County – Last night, at approximately 8:20 p.m., officers from the Indiana State Police, the Noble County Sheriff’s Department, and the Avilla Police Department responded to a single vehicle crash at 2885 South Noble County Road 600 East, in which a Laotta, IN man died.
The preliminary crash investigation by Trooper Lesley Fox revealed that Gerald Quinn, 49, Laotta, IN, was driving a 2001 Dodge Dakota southbound on County Road 600 East. Evidence indicates that the Dodge was traveling at a high rate of speed when it crossed the center line and traveled off the east side of the road. The Dodge went down an embankment, rolled three times, before coming to rest on its top in a flooded area of a field. The vehicle and Quinn were submerged in the water.
Emergency personnel removed Quinn from the vehicle and provided him with medical attention along with CPR. Despite their efforts Quinn was pronounced dead at the scene.
Trooper Fox was assisted at the crash scene by the Laotto Fire Department and the Churubusco Fire Department.
