Two suspicious haystack fires early morning of April 1, 2014 under investigation.

MOSES LAKE, Wash. (05APR2014) - Grant County Sheriff's office is looking into two suspicious haystack fires in the early morning of April 1, 2014 resulting in a $76,000 loss between two area growers.

The first haystack fire was reported on Road 7 NW, west of Rd T NW by Quincy Police Department at about 1:45am. Grant County Fire District #3 was dispatched and after arrival, allowed the fire to burn itself out. The loss was estimated between 60-70 tons at a value of $10,000.

A short time later, the second haystack fire was reported at approximately 2:15am at 6727 Rd. P N.W, east of Moses Lake. Grant County Fire District #3 and Grant County Sheriff's Deputies were dispatched and after arrival, allowed the fire to burn itself out. The loss was estimated between 250-300 tons, and $66,000.

The Grant County Sheriff's Office and the Grant County Fire Marshal's Office are investigating. Anyone with information is asked to call 509-762-1160 or send information to [email protected]. Tipsters can remain anonymous. The case number is 14GS03470.
