Special Enforcement Team Takes Armed Robbery Suspect into Custody

The suspect wanted for robbing the Mobil Gas Station on Los Positas Road in Santa Barbara back in February of 2013 is in custody. Newly obtained DNA evidence from the crime scene indicated 35 year old Travis Rosenblatt of Santa Barbara committed this crime. Rosenblatt had previously been convicted of committing a bank robbery in the city of Santa Barbara in 2006. Sheriff’s Detectives determined Rosenblatt was residing at a home in the 1400 block of Los Positas Place in the city of Santa Barbara. They obtained a search and arrest warrant.

At approximately 5:00 a.m. yesterday morning, April 3, the Sheriff’s Special Enforcement Team responded to the residence to serve the warrants. They surrounded the home and made several announcements ordering anyone inside the residence to come out immediately. Two other tenants inside the residence came out right away and were safely evacuated. Rosenblatt, however, refused to come out. A reverse 911 was sent to residents in the area notifying them that the Sheriff’s Office was conducting an operation and instructing them to stay inside their homes.

After making multiple announcements, the Special Enforcement Team deployed distraction devices in an effort to persuade Rosenblatt to surrender. Finally, almost two and a half hours later, Rosenblatt came out of his bedroom and was taken into custody without incident.

Rosenblatt is charged with armed robbery and is booked at the Santa Barbara County Jail on $500,000 bail.
