Former Treasurer Charged in Theft Case

Carroll County-A former treasurer of the Carroll County Historical Society has been charged with one count of Theft, a Class D Felony for money taken from the Historical Society’s bank account for over $7,000.00.

Master Trooper Detective Jay Harper of the Indiana State Police Criminal Investigations Division has learned through interviews and information received that Melissa R. Oliver, 41 years old from Delphi, IN had taken the money over the course of three years while she was treasurer of the Historical Society. She was the treasurer from January 2011 till October of 2013. Oliver has been charged with the theft and turned herself into the Carroll County Court and was sent over to the Carroll County Jail for processing and was released on her own recognizance by the judge. The investigation is continuing.

Assisting in the case were members of the Carroll County Historical Society and the Carroll County Prosecutor’s Office.
