Valencia, Zone 5, Public Safety and Crime Prevention Information. Snapshot for 03/24/2014 through 03/30/2014.

Zone 5-Valencia had fourteen Part-1 Crimes reported during the past week. The criminal incidents included a burglary, an assault, grand theft and numerous shoplifting from various businesses.

A burglary occurred at a local gym on the 24400 block of Town Center Drive between the hours of 3:30 pm and 5:00 pm. The victim reported that the pad lock was broken off his locker located in the men’s locker room area. Items stolen were a wallet containing the victim’s driver’s license, credit cards and money. No suspects or witnesses were located regarding this incident.

An assault involving three students occurred on Copperstone Drive and Decoro Drive at 2:00 pm. The victim stated he was punched and kicked in the face and chest by two known male students. The victim sustained lacerations to the body and was treated at local hospital for his injuries. Cobra Detectives assigned to the Santa Clarita Station are currently investigating the circumstances regarding this incident.

A grand theft involving a Craigslist item occurred at the 23500 block of Via Barra between the hours of 2:00 pm and 2:15 pm. The victim met the suspect in front of the residence to sell an expensive camera. The suspect asked to see the camera and stated he needed to show it to his father. The suspect went around the side of the house to the backyard through a side gate and was never seen again. It was discovered that the pedestrian gate located in the back yard was left opened and lead out to Wiley Canyon Road. The investigation is currently ongoing.

Keep theft down. Take careful steps to not become a victim. When it comes to selling items via popular websites, be mindful of where you choose to meet potential buyers. Always meet in a well-lit, public area. A seller should always take down the serial number and take a photo of the item you are selling, in case a theft occurs. This will assist deputies with tracking the item to aide in its recovery.

If you see any suspicious activity, please call the Sheriff’s Station immediately at 661-255-1121.
