On 03/31/2014, at approximately 6:50 PM, detectives from the Sonoma County Sheriff’s Office Property Crimes Investigation Unit arrested Kamon James Stephens, 34 years old, from Merced, for multiple felonies for drugs and weapon possession. Detectives saw Stephens driving northbound on South Cloverdale Blvd., in Cloverdale. Stephens pulled into a gas station and got out of his car. Detectives saw that Stephens was displaying systems of being under the influence of drugs. Detectives contacted Stephens and learned that he was on felony probation for a domestic violence conviction. Detectives searched Stephens and found approx. 4 grams of Crystal Methamphetamine on him. Stephens was then placed under arrest. Detectives search Stephens’ vehicle and located a loaded gun. Detectives learned that Stephens had rented a motel room at the Super 8 Motel on South Cloverdale Blvd. Detectives went to Stephens' room and searched it. Detectives found packing material, a scale, and approx. 5 pounds of marijuana inside a sealed box. The box was ready to be shipped as it was labeled with an address in another state. Detectives also found credit cards that did not belong to Stephens.

Stephens was taken to the Sonoma County jail where he was booked for Possession of Drugs while Armed, Convicted Felon with a Firearm, Possession of Meth, Driving on a Suspended Driver’s License, and Violation of his Probation. Stephens has a No-Bail hold due to his probation violation charge. Detectives will be conducting follow up investigation regarding the marijuana and credit cards. Additional charges against Stephens will be sought.
