Jeffery Waycaster, of Marion, captured after eight months on the run from authorities

A man on the run from sheriff’s deputies for eight months is now in custody for robbery, safecracking and assault charges.
Detective Paul Alkire of the McDowell County Sheriff’s Office charged Jeffery Daniel Waycaster, 31, of Triple J Mobile Home Park in Marion, with felony common law robbery, felony safecracking, felony larceny, felony breaking and entering and misdemeanor assault inflicting serious injury.
On June 27, 2013, Jimmy Parker, of Owl Hollow Road in Marion, reported that a man came into his house at approximately 12:30 p.m.
The man, later identified as Waycaster, is acquainted with Parker.
Alkire said Waycaster assaulted Parker by putting his arms around the victim’s neck, dragging him into another room and holding him to the floor.
The suspect allegedly threatened Parker and stole a locker safe containing cash.
Waycaster has been on the run since the incident. Alkire said, when the suspect returned to town last week, the Sheriff’s Office began receiving tips concerning his whereabouts. Waycaster was arrested on Friday, March 28.
