Incident: DENIAL of Business License Renewal

Location: Milo’s Bar and Grill – 11 Garrison Road, Marietta, Georgia


Based on a number of criminal incidents that have occurred in and around “Milo’s Bar and Grill,” located at 11 Garrison Road, in Marietta, Georgia, the City of Marietta will not renew Milo’s business license. Milo’s business license expired March 31, 2014, and a mounting number of serious incidents occurring at the establishment prompted the Marietta Police Department to recommend the City not renew their business license. Marietta Police records show between February 11, 2011, and March 20, 2014, Marietta Police officers responded to at least forty-nine (49) incidents where reports were completed; among those incidents are seven (7) larcenies, two (2) motor vehicle thefts, two (2) drug offenses, six (6) hit-and-run automobile collisions, and fourteen (14) incidents of violence, including multiple aggravated assaults by firearm and the murder of Tekilum Terrell. Thus, a ‘cease and desist’ notification has been sent to Quantria Barnes -the most recent holder of the business license for the location- advising ALL activity at the business must be concluded as of midnight on March 31, 2014.

The safety and security of those living in and visiting to Marietta is the top priority of the City of Marietta and the Marietta Police Department, said mission often requiring a multi-faceted approach from many city departments. Moreover, the sheer volume of criminal incidents at the business and the lack of cooperation by patrons and employees during the course of several criminal investigations prompted the City to disallow further operations at the location out of an abundance of caution and concern for public safety.
