Press Release: Spring Traffic Safety Initiative

NARRATIVE:
April is National Distracted Driving Awareness Month and the Township of Ocean Police Department will be in support of the National Initiative "U-Drive, U-Text, U-Pay."
Beginning April 1st and continuing throughout the month of April 2014, the Township of Ocean Police Department will be conducting a Spring Traffic Safety Initiative. The goal of this initiative is to target vehicle operations where the operator’s actions are distracted, aggressive or impaired.
Enforcement will be conducted by Patrol Bureau and Traffic Bureau Officers. We will be targeting all motor vehicle violations with particular attention to hazardous moving violations. The locations of this initiative will be primarily focused on a combination of high traffic and high hazard intersections or roadways within the township.
This initiative is to include zero (0) tolerance for distracted driving related offenses, by operators of a moving vehicles using cell phones or similar electronic devices.
