Red Cross Volunteer Training
We are relaying the following information to our citizens from the
Western Carolinas Regional office of the American Red Cross:
In an effort to build our volunteer ranks in Polk County the American Red Cross will be offering a New Disaster Volunteer Orientation for those interested in becoming American Red Cross Disaster Volunteers on April 9 at the Red Cross office, 231 Ward Street in Columbus from 6-8pm.
On average the American Red Cross responds to 2-3 disasters per day across the Western Carolinas, we are always in the need for more trained and committed volunteer Disaster Responders.
The New Disaster Volunteer Orientation is an introduction to the Disaster Cycle Services Program and the volunteer opportunities within each part of the Disaster Cycle (Prepare, Respond, and Recover). This includes an over- view of the services the American Red Cross provides, mission and purpose, our regional operational structure, volunteer expectations, volunteer opportunities, our online resources, and most importantly how to get started as a American Red Cross Volunteer within Disaster Cycle Services.
