#LASD Special Victims Bureau Detectives Recognized by District Attorney for Exemplary Investigation & Prosecution

The Los Angeles County District Attorney’s Victim-Witness Assistance Program has asked District Attorney Jackie Lacy to commend the “People v. Renoir Vincent Valenti” investigation and prosecution team for their exemplary effort in seeking justice for the victims involved in the case.

Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department (LASD) detectives Timothy MacLean and Susan Velazquez will be recognized on Wednesday, April 9th, 2014, in the City of Alhambra.

Detective MacLean and Detective Velazquez are assigned to the LASD Special Victims Bureau - North Team. The North Team serves the communities of Lancaster, Palmdale and Santa Clarita Valley. The mission of Special Victims Bureau is to investigate and protect children and adults from assaultive behavior, willful neglect, and emotional harm.

"This tenacious and dedicated criminal justice team is being recognized for exemplary sensitive treatment of the victims-15 boys and one girl, and their families, during the arduous investigation and challenging prosecution of a soccer coach, for multiple counts of child molestation in “People v Renoir Valenti.” The lengthy jury trial involved 58 witnesses and 143 exhibits; resulting in convictions on 20 counts and a possible 150 year-to-life sentence at the perpetrator's sentencing scheduled for April 18, 2014.
