Repairs to Route 997 from Route 16/Main St in Waynesboro to Nunnery Road in Washington Township are scheduled to begin this week.
PennDOT advises those who travel Route 997 North of Waynesboro that they may encounter single-lane traffic restrictions with flaggers assisting them through the work zone weekedays after 8:30am for pipe replacement and base repair in preperation for milling and resurfacing.
Motorists are reminded to be alert for these opearations, to obey work zone signs, and to slow down when approaching and traveling throught work zones, not only for their safety, but for the safety of the road crews.
This is the first phase of an overall project to repair a 2.6 mile section of Route 997. The overall project is expected to be completed by the end of November.
