A Santa Maria Couple is Arrested for Child Endangerment

A Santa Maria couple is arrested for child endangerment at the Chumash Casino in Santa Ynez. At around 12:30 p.m. on Tuesday, March 11, Sheriff’s deputies assigned to the Solvang station responded to the Chumash Casino to a report of a 4-year-old child who was found walking by herself around the casino parking structure. The passerby, who found the child, took her to the security desk and the Santa Barbara County Sheriff’s Office was notified.
Through the course of the investigation, Sheriff’s deputies determined 28-year-old Petra Zaragoza and 23-year-old Bulmaro Reyes, the child’s parents, had stopped at the casino around noon to gamble and had left their child in the car sleeping. About ten minutes later, the child was seen leaving the car and looking around for her parents.
Due to the fact, their actions could have resulted in great bodily injury to the child, Reyes and Zaragoza were arrested for felony child endangerment and transported to the Santa Barbara County Jail.
