McDowell County Sheriff Dudley Greene releases statement concerning death of Officer Jason Crisp

Jason Marc Crisp, 38, served as a part-time deputy with the McDowell County Sheriff’s Office from February 1997 to June 1998, when he was hired full-time. He served full-time until March 2004, when he took a job with the U.S. Forest Service. He remained a reserve officer with our department. When searching through his records last night, administrators found numerous letters of commendation for his outstanding service to McDowell County.

Following is a statement from McDowell County Sheriff Dudley Greene:

“We’ve lost one of our own. Even though Jason’s primary employment was no longer here, he was still a deputy sheriff and very much a part of this operation and family. He was a dedicated professional, probably one of the most dedicated I’ve ever known. Our community has lost a tremendous resource, law enforcement has lost a tremendous asset and we’ve lost a very dear friend. Our thoughts and prayers are with the family. Our focus right now is to rally behind them and help them in any way we can, as well as honor Jason’s service to the community.”
