Experimental Plane Goes Down
MONROE – March 12, 2014: At 7:00 pm, police and fire responded to the Firstair Field airport in the City of Monroe after a citizen saw a plane go down and called 911. Upon arrival the officers contacted the pilot. The 50-year-old male from Duvall explained that shortly after takeoff his propeller fell off and he attempted to glide the plane back to the runway. He was unable to reach the runway and the plane went down in a field just west of the airfield. Upon landing the right landing gear collapsed and the fuselage was damaged. The pilot was not injured.
The Monroe Police Department is investigating this incident; the Federal Aviation Administration was notified.
