Burglar’s attempt to enter residence is spoiled by occupied homeowner 
On Thursday, January 30, 2014, 10:30a.m., the victim heard an unknown subject knocking loudly on his front door and ringing the doorbell in the 4200 block of Sepulveda Blvd. The victim looked out the window and observed an unknown male standing in front of the door with his back to the door.
Approximately one minute later, the victim heard a side gate open then observed the suspect kneeling on the ground outside of the living room glass double doors in his rear yard, holding what appeared to be a screwdriver in his hand and attempting to pry open the rear door. As the victim approached the door, the suspect looked at him, quickly stood up and began to run through the rear yard out of sight.
SUSPECT DESCRIPTION:
Hispanic or Middle Eastern male, 17-20 years old, 5’11”-6’02” tall, slender build, lanky, black hair, brown eyes, hair short on the sides and spiked in the front, wearing a black and white plaid jacket, possibly hooded and faded blue jeans.
SUSPECT VEHICLE: None seen or heard.

If a strange person is knocking on your door the Torrance Police Department advises you to let the person know someone is at the residence. This does not mean that you have to physically open the door; speak to them through the door or window. Once the suspect knows someone is at the residence in most cases the suspect will leave. If this situation occurs, if you see a stranger knocking on your neighbor’s door, or a suspicious stranger in your neighborhood please notify the Torrance Police Department. If possible get a description of the subject, related vehicle and a direction of travel. Remember that if you See Something, Say Something.
