1 injured in snowmobile crash

Sheriff Joseph M. Underwood Jr. reports that on 3/9/14 at 0605 hours, his office was called to investigate a snowmobile accident that occurred on the Eastern shoreline of Magician Lake. 20 year old Dowagiac resident, Ryan Smit, was operating his snowmobile on Magician Lake when exiting the lake his lost control and crashed into a shore station. Smit and his passenger, 22 yr old Mayfield resident Andrew Camp, were ejected off the vehicle. Camp was treated by ambulance personnel until he could be transported by Air Care to Bronson hospital in Kalamazoo. It is believed that helmets were not used and that alcohol is a factor. This case is still under investigation.
