Shooting Death Investigation, 100 block S. Wilmington Ave, Compton-#LASD Compton Station/Homicide Bureau (Log 52)

Los Angeles County Sheriff's Homicide detectives are continuing their investigation into the circumstances surrounding the shooting death of a man that occurred at 12:25 AM, Sunday, March 9, 2014 at the 100 block of South Wilmington Avenue, Compton.

Detectives learned deputies from the Compton Sheriff's Station responded to the location regarding a call of a "gunshot victim." Upon their arrival to the location, deputies discovered two gunshot victims. Victim #1, a male-black, 31 years old, and Victim #2, a male-black, 24 years old, were both suffering from multiple gunshot wounds.

Victim #1 was transported to a local hospital where he was pronounced dead.

Victim #2 was transported to a local hospital where he was treated for multiple gunshot wounds and is expected to survive.

According to witnesses, the victims were attending a party at the location when an argument with the suspect(s) turned into a fight. During the altercation, the suspect(s) shot both victims with a handgun.

The murder weapon and suspect(s) remain outstanding.

The investigation is on-going. There is no further information at this time.
