On Thursday (02/27/14) at 16:55 hours, Officers were dispatched to the area of 2nd Street and E Street to investigate a subject that brandished a knife. Arriving Officers located Jose Villavaso (62 year old male) sleeping on the ground with a butter knife in his hand, a hammer in his pocket, and an empty bottle of Vodka sitting next to him. Mr. Villavaso was too intoxicated to care for himself and was transported to a local hospital for treatment.
On Friday (02/28/14) at 14:56 hours, Officers responded to a collision on Decoto Road near Mission Boulevard. One of the four involved vehicles had rolled his vehicle during the collision. Luckily none of the involved parties were seriously injured. Unsafe speed and diverted attention (use of a cellular phone) were the primary collision factors.
On Sunday (03/02/14) at 00:34 hours, Officers responded to the Shell Gas station on Decoto Road to investigate a strong-arm robbery. Arriving Officers contacted the victim who identified himself as the gas station attendant. The victim reported seeing two males and one female attempt to kick open the ATM machine at the business. The suspects punched the victim and stole his cellular phone when he told them he was going to call the police. The suspects fled the area prior to Officers arriving. The suspects were described as being African American and between 16 and 20 years of age.
On Tuesday (03/04/14) at 15:16 hours, Officers responded to Union Landing shopping center to investigate a subject threatening passing motorists with a knife and slashing tires on parked vehicles. Responding Officers contacted a 35 year old subject holding a knife and an umbrella inside of Andersen’s Bakery. The subject refused to comply with Officers orders to drop the knife and come outside of the store. At one point the subject placed a knife to his own throat. One of the Officers was able to deploy his Taser, which caused the subject to drop the knife and fall to the ground. Officers then took the subject into custody without further incident. The suspect was determined to be mentally ill and was committed for up to 72 hours at a local medical facility.
