Hours: 7pm-9pm

Requirements: NO CRIMINAL HISTORY, (To participate in the field trip, applicant must possess a valid California Identification.

OVERVIEW:
The Community Academy is a seven week course, taught one night a week by Compton Sheriff’s Station’s deputy personnel. This program helps strengthen the line of communication between the community and the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department. The course is presented in Spanish to residents of the community. During the seven weeks, students participate in role playing, receive an overview of the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department, and learn about probable cause, search and seizure, Miranda rights, traffic laws, youth programs, etc. The participants also attend a field trip to the Century Regional Detention Facility (CRDF) in Lynwood, CA. Upon completion of the program, every participant receives a “Certificate of Participation”.
