After receiving complaints from citizens of Stokes County who travel Dodgetown Road and NC Highway 8, who reported witnessing an extreme amount of trash on each side of the road from an obvious litter problem, on Dodgetown Road and continuing onto NC Highway 8 traveling towards Germanton, Sheriff Marshall requested assistance from Tony Hill, Director of the Stokes County District Resource Center.

On 02/28/2014, The Stokes County District Resource Center responded to the Dodgetown Road area and began collecting and bagging trash that had been left on the side of the road. At the end of the day on February 28th the Stokes County District Resource Center crew had collected eighteen (18) bags of trash and had covered an approximate eight (8) mile stretch of Highway.

Director Tony Hill stated, "It was a privelege to assist Sheriff Marshall in dealing with the complaints he had received. It was a combined effort to address a problem that too often goes without addressing. I'm glad we could utilize our program like this and help our community at the same time."
