A local teen was arrested Sunday evening after allegedly stealing property from his soon-to-be stepfather last month.
Dustin Wade Taylor, 18, of 557 Highway 290, was taken into custody at his residence around 6:45 p.m. and charged with theft of property, a misdemeanor punishable by up to one year in jail. He was later released on $1,000 bond and is set to appear March 18 in district court.
According to reports, GCSD Deputies DeLahunt and Huffman were dispatched to the residence and spoke to the victim, 33, who stated he had found a SanDisk wireless memory card that had been missing for about a week in the suspect’s room while he was cleaning. He stated the suspect, identified as Taylor, was his “soon-to-be stepson.”
The victim indicated he wanted to press charges and while the deputies were talking to him, Taylor returned home and they asked him about the card. He initially denied taking it, but finally admitted it and was taken into custody.
