A local man was arrested on a battery charge after allegedly punching the property manager for a residence he had previously moved out of Friday afternoon.
Garrett Lee Hepburn, 36, was taken into custody shortly before 3 p.m. at 118 Chambers Point and charged with third-degree battery, a misdemeanor punishable by up to one year in jail.
He was later released on $1,000 bond and is set to appear March 18 in district court.
According to reports, shortly after 2:30 p.m., GCSD Deputy Matthew Wharton was dispatched to the residence regarding a disturbance and spoke to the victim, 29, who is manager for Crawford Properties, who stated Hepburn had climbed over a fence and then punched him on the right side of his face.
Wharton noted the victim had redness and swelling around his right eye. A witness, 27, who lived at the residence, reportedly confirmed the victim’s statement of events, including the fact Hepburn had moved out of the residence several days earlier.
The deputy located Hepburn inside the residence and took him into custody. Wharton noted a metal ladder placed against the wooden privacy fence to gain entry to the back patio area of the residence and Hepburn reportedly admitted it belonged to him.
