“Craigslist Bandit” Facing Theft Charges
Indianapolis, IN- An Indianapolis man known as the “Craigslist Bandit” to the officers investigating his alleged crimes has turned himself in to the Marion County Arrestee Processing Center and faces charges of theft and possession of stolen property. Aaron Noble, 18, of Indianapolis, turned himself into authorities on Friday February 28th and faces three counts of theft and one count of possession of stolen property.
On July 23, 2013 Indiana State Police Capitol Police Section Officers responded to the Indiana State Museum at 650 W. Washington Street on the report of a theft. The victim advised he had met with an individual he had only communicated with on Craigslist to sell his IPOD touch. During the course of the transaction the suspect asked to look at the IPOD then began to scream very loud and ran into the wooded path between the Indiana State Museum and the Eitlejorg Museum.
Officers responded to two other reports of theft at the Indiana State Museum on August 3rd and August 28th. Each theft had similar methods of operation in that the victim had only made contact with the suspect through Craigslist and after asking to inspect the electronics items the suspect would scream loudly and flee on foot into the wooded area between the Indiana State Museum and the Eitlejorg Museum.
During the seven month investigation, Detective Charles Meneely, of the Indiana State Police Capitol Police Section, was able to gather enough information through computer records and photo lineups to obtain a warrant for the arrest of Aaron Nobles.
Mr. Nobles was notified of the outstanding warrant and he surrendered to authorities at the Marion County Arrestee Processing Center last Friday afternoon. He faces three counts of theft, Class D Felonies and one count of possession of stolen property, Class D Felony.

The overwhelming majority of craigslist users are trustworthy and well-intentioned.
With billions of human interactions facilitated, the incidence of violent crime is extremely low.
Nevertheless, please take the same common sense precautions online as you would offline.
When meeting someone for the first time, please remember to:
• Insist on a public meeting place like a cafe.
• Do not meet in a secluded place, or invite strangers into your home.
• Be especially careful when buying/selling high value items.
• Tell a friend or family member where you're going.
• Take your cell phone along if you have one.
• Consider having a friend accompany you.
• Trust your instincts.
Taking these simple precautions helps make craigslist safer for everyone.
