Correction Update: Lane charged with Attempted Murder
On Sunday, 03/02/2014, deputies with the Rutherford County Sheriff’s Office were dispatched to Rutherford Regional Hospital in reference to an assault.
James Jay Frei reported being assaulted by Kenneth Lane at 4451 Hudlow Road Union Mills.
Det. Jimmy Upton was called to investigate the Assault.
The investigation showed that an argument had occurred between James Frei and Kenneth Lane at the residence that they share at 4451 Hudlow Road.
Frei was purportedly doused with gas by Lane and struck in the back of the head with a wooden stick that was on fire.
When Frei tried to get in his truck to leave to go to the hospital for his injuries; Lane threatened to set the truck on fire with a Molotov cocktail if Frei left.
Friends of Frei that were at the residence, were able to get Frei to Rutherford Regional Hospital, where he was treated and released.
Kenneth Lane was charged with (1ct) Attempted 1st degree murder, (1ct) Assault inflicting serious bodily injury, and (1ct) Communicating Threats. Bond was set at $300,000.00 secured.
This case is still under investigation.
