On March 2nd, 2014, at 7:40 a.m. Gibson County Sheriff’s Deputies were dispatched to a traffic accident at State Road 168 and County Road 700 South. When Deputy Roger Ballard arrived on scene he found a Black 2012 four door Chevy Passenger car on its side in a ditch. Deputy Ballard was advised by other first responders on the scene that the occupants of that vehicle were in an ambulance that was on scene. Deputy Ballard entered the ambulance to investigate the accident and smelled the strong odor of an alcoholic beverage coming from the ambulance. During the investigation several Standard Field Sobriety Tests were administered to the driver Dylan D. Hawf age 21 of Mount Carmel, Illinois. After Mr. Hawf was cleared by the Gibson General Emergency Room he was transported to the Gibson County Jail. At the Jail Mr. Hawf was charged with Operating a Vehicle While Intoxicated. Mr. Hawf has since posted a $1300 bond.
