Modesto, CA- A heroic father and son were shot during a home invasion in Salida this evening, allowing family members to escape and call law enforcement.


At approximately 8:30 PM Stanislaus County Sheriff's Deputies responded to a call of a home invasion in the 500 block of Sun Valley Ct in Salida.


A father was at home with his wife and two sons, ages 8 and 15, when 4 subjects came to their front door. When they opened the door the subjects forced their way into the residence. The suspects began demanding cash and jewelry while holding the family at gun point.


The father and 15 year old son began fighting with the suspects, allowing the mother and 8 year old to escape and run to the neighbors house to get help. While they were fighting with the suspects there were several gun shots fired and the father and 15 year old were shot. The suspects then ran out of the house and fled the area in an unknown vehicle. The father and son also fled to the neighbors residence to get help.


Once Deputies were on scene they set up perimeters around the house. The father and 15 year old son were transported to the hospital with non-life threatening injuries.


The Stanislaus SWAT team responded and cleared the residence to insure there were no suspects left inside the house.


Sheriff's Department Detectives state this was not a random act. The suspects are believed to know the families oldest son, age 19, but are not releasing how.


The suspects are believed to be males in their early 20's. One suspect is confirmed to be a black male and the other three are mid to light skinned males who wore bandannas over their face.
