National Weather Service Forecast for Alhambra, CA. Stormy weather with significant rainfall expected through Saturday.

The first of two storm systems will move into the forecast area. This first storm will bring rain to the central coast this afternoon. Rain…possible heavy… will develop across areas south of point conception early this evening and overnight. It will be windy across the interior portions of all the counties. High surf and strong rip currents will also impact west facing beaches north of point conception.
There will be a brief lull in the weather on Thursday before another more powerful storm aims for Southern California. There will be the potential for rainfall totals to range from 1-3 inches along the coast and valleys…up to 3-6 inches for the foothills and mountains. There could be local amounts to 8 inches across south facing favored mountains as well Friday through Saturday.

Preparing Your Home for Rain:

• Consider the use of sandbags to put into the low areas around your house to help keep flood water at bay. (Sandbags and sand are available at all four (4) fire stations in Alhambra. Fire Stations are located at: 301 N. First Street; 1215 S. Sixth Street; 2200 W. Main Street; and 2505 W. Norwood Place in the City of Alhambra.

• Clear you gutter of leaves and debris. Clogged gutters cause rainwater to pool, and if you’ve got an older roof, that rain will find its way into your house.

• Check the down pipes as well. Make sure the output has somewhere to go, to avoid pools near your foundation.

• Keep large trees around your home trimmed and inspect for dead and dying branches that could come down in a storm.

• Lower water levels in swimming pools to avoid flooding

• Secure loose outdoor items such as patio furniture and trash cans, which can be blown around by wind and cause damage.

• Check the drains at the corner to make sure it is free of debris.

If you have an emergency, call 911.
