Advisory

Get Ready For Wet Weather Driving!

Heavy rain is expected in Los Angeles County during the next several days, with several inches of rain expected as a result of two winter storms working their way toward Los Angeles. It's been quite a while since we've had any rain, which means the streets will be slick and traffic conditions can be very dangerous.

Prepare your vehicle for wet weather by making sure your brakes, tires, windshield wipers and lighting equipment are all in good working condition.

Slow down and increase your following distance while driving in wet conditions and use your low beam headlights, windshield wipers, and defroster while driving! Plan for extra travel time so that you can arrive safely at your destination.

If your are involved in a traffic collision, you must stop at the scene of the collision. Call 9-1-1 if there are any injuries and wait for police to arrive. If there are no injuries, move your vehicle out of traffic lanes if it is safe to do so. Provide your driver's license information, registration, current contact information, and evidence of financial responsibility to the other parties involved.

Most of all, remember to drive defensively and be aware of the road conditions as you travel during the next several days. Be safe!
