The National Weather Service forecasting two storm systems that are scheduled to impact Temple City this week.

Temple City Residents,

The National Weather Service is forecasting two storm systems that are scheduled to impact Temple City this week. The two storm systems are to bring the most significant rains of the winter.

MAIN IMPACTS

Storm #1 - This is the weakest storm. No significant impacts outside of the typical slick roadways and minor clogged storm drains are expected Wednesday afternoon through midday Thursday.
Storm #2 - This is the strongest storm of two. Main impacts will be the potential for heavy downpours and near thunderstorms.

RAINFALL AMOUNTS

Storm #1 – 0.25”-0.75” of forecasted rainfall within Temple City.
Storm #2 – 2”-4” of forecasted rainfall within Temple City.

SYNOPSIS

Two storm systems in one week will be the first of its kind this winter. Storm #1 will be ordinary with minimal impacts expected late Wednesday through midday Thursday. Storm #2 will be much stronger bringing greater impacts Friday through Saturday.

DURING THE STORM

Stay away from all downed wires and always assume they are “live.” Call Southern California Edison immediately at 1-800-611-1911 or the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department at 1-626-285-7171 to report downed power lines.

Stay away from storm debris that might be entangled with power lines.

Don’t touch anything a power line may be touching including trees, fences and puddles. Never go into an area with electrical-powered equipment where there is standing water.

BE PREPARED

Keep enough supplies for 48 hours in case of power outages resulting from the storms – food, water, medication, etc. Remember to have food that doesn’t require refrigeration or heating and copies of prescriptions as well as a first aid kit.

Keep flashlights, a portable radio and extra batteries handy. For safety, battery operated lights should be used instead of candles which can cause a fire.

Charge your electronics prior to the storm and switch to a battery saving mode if power is lost. Limit non-essential calls so your devices are available for emergency information or contacting 911.

TEMPLE CITY ASSISTANCE

The City of Temple City offers residents free sand and sand bags. The sand and bags are available in front Los Angeles Fire Station No.47 located at 5946 Kauffman Ave.
