Andrew Long and Dustin Truesdale charged with having homemade weapon in jail 
Detention Officer Jay Goins of the McDowell County Sheriff’s Office charged 35-year-old Andrew George Long, of Shady Lane in Marion, and 31-year-old Dustin Brady Truesdale, of Mercy Lane in Marion, Thursday with felony possession of a weapon in a detention facility.
Goins and other officers in the McDowell County jail received information concerning a possible weapon in one of the cells. A search of the cell that Long and Truesdale shared turned up a shank, a homemade weapon.
In this case, it was a 9 1/2- inch piece of metal wire sharpened on one end with a cloth handle.
