New OSBI Commission Chairman Elected
During the quarterly meeting of the OSBI Commission this morning, a new chairman was elected. Previous Chairman Ted Fariss died January 9th. Today’s meeting was the first since Fariss’ death. Vice Chairman Russell Noble was elected Chairman for the duration of Fariss’ term. That term expires in August. Rick Stephens was elected Vice Chairman to fill Noble’s position. Noble was appointed to the Commission by Governor Frank Keating in 1997, reappointed by Governor Brad Henry, and reappointed again by Governor Mary Fallin. Noble is president of Sea Cattle Company and the Quien Sabe Corporation in Ardmore. He also serves as trustee to the Samuel Roberts Noble Foundation.
Stephens was appointed to the Commission in 2012 by Gov. Fallin. Stephens brings many years of law enforcement to the Commission. At age 18, Stephens worked as a dispatcher and jailer for the Mayes County Sheriff’s Office. A few years later, he became a police officer in Pryor working his way through college. Stephens earned his bachelor’s degree in criminal justice and worked as an OSBI agent during the 1980's and 1990's.
Both men serve the Commission as lay members. Pictures of Noble and Stephens are attached. Noble is pictured with eye glasses.
