Fugitive arrest
Auglaize County Sheriff Al Solomon released details today concerning the arrest of a fugitive from the State of Michigan. On Friday February 14 the Sheriff’s Office was notified by the U.S. Marshal’s Office in Toledo that they received information that the fugitive may be staying in the St. Marys area. He was wanted for Parental Kidnapping in Michigan for the illegal removal of his 1 year old child. It was believed that the fugitive still had the child with him.
Detectives from the Sheriff’s Office and the St. Marys Police Department searched the area for the suspect’s vehicle and detectives located it at a campground near St. Marys. The suspect was located there and arrested without incident with the assistance of Deputies from the Sheriff’s Office and Officers from the St. Marys Police Department. The child was also located unharmed at the campground and temporarily turned over to the Auglaize County Department of Job and Family Services. The child was eventually turned over to another Social Services Agency that had a protective custody order for the child.
The wanted person was identified as Robert James Beck, 36. Beck has addresses in Norwalk, Ohio and Monroe, Michigan. He was taken to the Auglaize County Jail where he is being held pending extradition to the State of Michigan.
