Friday evening, the Creek County District Attorney's Office requested OSBI investigate a double stabbing at 525 E. Washington, Bristow. There, Vernon Stanbrough (d.o.b. 7/17/1951) stabbed Betty Diane Evans, 51, and her brother Robert Evans (age unknown at this time). The stabbing occurred at Betty Evans' home. Betty died at a local hospital. Robert Evans was flown to a Tulsa hospital where he is in critical condition. Stanbrough was booked into the Creek County Jail on a complaint of murder in the first degree and assault and battery with a deadly weapon. All three people are from Bristow. What prompted the stabbing is under investigation. Two mugshots of Stanbrough are attached.
