Advisory

Another system is heading our way and will deliver another 1 - 3 inches of snow tonight through tomorrow afternoon.

Information from the Bridgewater Township Police Department and Office of Emergency Management regarding a Severe Weather Event:

Weather Alert: Another system is heading our way and will deliver another 1 - 3 inches of snow tonight through tomorrow afternoon. Partially flooded roadways are popping up throughout Bridgewater. Please stay off the roads! If you must drive use extreme caution. If you must go out, remember to clear all snow and ice off of your vehicle. It's the law and will be enforced!

Please do not call Police Communications/9-1-1 about your street not being plowed from the storm. DPW/NJDOT will get to your street once the snow stops and all the main arteries are clear. To help with the street clearing process, we ask that you remove any vehicles from the side of the road if possible. It is the homeowner's responsibility to clear where their driveway meets the road. Any individual caught putting snow back on the roadway is subject to a summons. You may contact DPW directly by calling 908-725-6300 ext. 6000 between 9am and 4:30pm, Monday through Friday, or by e-mail: [email protected].

Misuse of 9-1-1 is against the law. Those caught making the call can and will be prosecuted. 9-1-1 is for life threatening emergencies only! More information on the 9-1-1 system.

If you have a fire hydrant near your residence or business, the Fire Departments of Bridgewater ask that you help them out and clear the area around the hydrant in case of an emergency.

Wet snow may cause added stress on tree limbs and power lines. If power lines should fall do not approach them. Call Police Communications so we may get the proper emergency resources there, if needed. In the event you experience a power outage, be sure to contact your service provider (PSE&G: 1-800-436-7734; Jersey Central Power & Light: 1-888-544-4877). Do not contact the police department unless an emergency exists with your power loss.

The Bridgewater Police, Bridgewater Fire Departments, and the Bridgewater Rescue Squads would like to remind you of the dangers of running generators in or near your home, including your garage. Please make sure to only run them in well ventilated areas.

Spread the word to family, friends and neighbors. Follow us on facebook, twitter and sign up with Nixle for free alerts sent to your phone/e-mail directly from us.

Updates on the storm will be posted as needed.
