Advisory

N.A. Borough Officials are asking for the public's cooperation during current snow storm that's left 8 inches so far

N. Arlington Borough Officials are asking for the public’s cooperation during the impending snow storm scheduled to arrive in early morning hours of Thursday & last through Friday evening, Feb. 14th.

The NWS forecast 10 - 14 in. of wet, heavy snow for our area. Recent snow storms have reduced travel path on the roads, residents are asked to park all motor vehicles off the public street into driveways, if possible, to facilitate plowing efforts by the DPW. If it is necessary to park your car on the public street, please attempt not to park across from another vehicle since a Borough plow vehicle needs 10 feet of clearance in order to plow the roadway. Additionally, the DPW anticipates based on the forecast, that this will be a prolonged snow plowing effort. The cooperation of all resident’s & their patience is going to be needed for this winter storm.

Help us to help you during a snow storm!

When snow is forecast, residents should be aware that Borough Ordinances will be issued for the following violations :

B.O. # 319-12 – Walkways must be cleared of snow & Ice within
12hrs of 1st light after the snow stops.
B.O. #319-20 – Unlawful to throw snow into street.
B.O. #187-22 – No parking when road is snow covered (all current
snow streets - except RUTHERFORD Pl.)
Vehicles will be ticketed and Towed
B.O. #187-7.1 – No Parking when road is snow covered. (West side
of RUTHERFORD Pl.)
39:4-77.1 - Operator must remove snow and ice from vehicle prior to
operation. (Does not apply DURING snow storm.)
39:4-77.3b - Unlawful for commercial plow to put snow into roadway
from private property.

Parking is permitted again on snow emergency streets when the roadway is plowed to the curb, snow has ceased falling and the roadway is no longer snow covered.

Vehicles are prohibited from being parked without being moved for 48 hrs on any Borough street regardless of the weather.

Move all vehicles into driveways when snow is forecast. If you do not have a driveway, talk to your neighbors about sharing driveways. It is much easier to shovel out the driveway entrance to the street then to attempt to shovel out a car that has been plowed in and may be subject to a summons and being towed.

When shoveling out or using a snow blower, do not put snow back out on the street. Residents on corner properties are asked to shovel a path out to the street for all pedestrians.

Waste containers, chairs or other items shall not be placed in the street after a a snow storm to block or reserve parking spots.

Residents who have fire hydrants in front of or in close proximity to their property are requested to clear sidewalks and make the Fire Hydrants clear and accessible to the Fire Department in the event of a fire.

Police Chief Ghione strongly encourages residents to receive real time emergency alerts and general community notifications, including snow emergency information from the Police Department, by signing up for free text messages/e-mail notifications at www.nixle.com.

A detailed list of all of the snow emergency streets is posted on the Borough’s web site at http://northarlington.org/?s=snow+street

Borough Officials look forward to your continued cooperation with the impending snow storm so that our Department of Public Works, along with Police Department, Ambulance Corps and the Fire Department can better serve you during and after a snow storm. gm 831
